I have an ipad too, and while it can work as a sketching tablet, it just isn't good enough for much more than rough thumbnails, at least for me. If you're doing a lot of inking and pencils on the go, have you tried doing the pencils in another color? If you use light blue or really any bright color, it's easy to remove that from your inked lines in Photoshop. No problem! Back then, the important thing to look for was <a href="http://www.wacom-components.com/english/technology/penabled.html" rel="nofollow">Wacom's Penabled tech.</a> I ended up selling the tablet because I wasn't using it as much as I thought, and it always seemed a little flimsy. I'm still using a 10 year old Wacom Intuos with my regular old Macbook pro and although there are too many wires, it offers the most flexibility and features.
